Ohio State, Oregon, USC, Michigan Considered Possible Schools For Bronny James

Jan 20, 2023 10:52 AM

Bronny James is currently the highest rated point guard of the 2023 high school class who has yet to commit to a college. James will most likely wait until after his high school season to take more college visits and a late decision is expected.

Ohio State, Oregon, USC and Michigan have emerged as possible landing spots for James.

James took an official visit to Ohio State in early September, which is only known campus visit.

Given the fact that James already signed a Nike shoe deal, his likely college path will be a Nike program.

NBA, NBPA Have Yet To Make Progress On Eliminating Age Limit For Draft

Dec 5, 2022 3:11 PM

The NBA and NBPA have yet to make progress on eliminating the age-limit rule as part of its next collective bargaining agreement.

The current rule states that players must be one year removed from high school graduation and turning 19 in the calendar year of the draft.

There are significant hurdles that would need to be resolved in order to change the rule.

Adam Silver has gone on record preferring the rule be changed.

NBA To Allow Teams To Scout High School Players At Key Events

Dec 5, 2022 3:09 PM

The NBA will begin to allow teams to attend several key high school events featuring many of the best non-draft eligible players in America.

The NBA is responding to a desire that team front offices have long had to gain greater access to evaluate elite prospects prior to entering college.

Shaedon Sharpe, Mitchell Robinson and Darius Bazley are three players who sat out their season before being draft-eligible.

Scouts want to evaluate these types of players earlier in their careers.

The three events that have now been certified for scouts to attend are the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas in mid-December; the Spalding HoopHall Classic in Springfield, Massachusetts in mid-January; and the Geico Nationals in Fort Myers, Florida in late March.

Kentucky Commit Rob Dillingham Signs With Overtime Elite

Nov 3, 2022 9:07 AM

Rob Dillingham, one of the top basketball recruits in the country, was caught in a tough spot with the closing of Donda Academy. In need of a new school and program, Dillingham will join Overtime Elite.

The 6-foot-3 guard will retain his college eligibility. That will allow Dillingham to fulfill his commitment to attend the University of Kentucky.

In 2021, Dillingham helped lead Team USA to the gold medal in the U16 Americans Championships. Dillingham averaged 15.7 points, 6.2 assists and 3.2 steals over six games during Team USA's run to the gold.

NBA Age Limit Rule Change Receiving Tepid Support From Key Stakeholders

Oct 12, 2022 3:13 PM

The NBA has widely been expected to change the one-and-done rule in their next collective bargaining agreement, but there appears to be little motivation from any of the key stakeholders on the matter outside of Adam Silver.

The union expects to receive major financial concessions from owners in exchange for this bargaining chip.

NBPA members say they see little benefit to allow a new class of teenagers to enter the league and take roster spots from veterans.

Front office executives have openly dreaded the possibility of returning to high school gyms to scout prospects.

College basketball's biggest stars are also able to make significant sums of money with NIL deals.

Silver is on the record as being adamant that changing the age limit is "the right thing to do," this past July, pointing to "societal changes" and saying he is "hopeful that's a change we make in this next collective bargaining cycle, which will happen in the next couple years."

If a rule change is agreed upon, it is not expected start earlier than the 2026 draft.

NBA Wants Agents To Share Medicals To All 30 Teams As Part Of One-And-Done Return

Sep 20, 2022 11:00 AM

The NBA and NBPA have long been expected to revert back to its previous rules allowing high school players to enter the draft, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN has tried to walk back earlier reports indicating an agreement will be reached.

The NBA is attempting to bargain for player agents to be forced to provide medical information and physicals to all 30 teams as part of the draft process. Currently, agents can exert control over who they share that information with in an attempt to direct their clients away from teams they would prefer to avoid.

Those conversations between the NBA and NBPA have yet to begin and will be part of their larger CBA negations.

Also, if the one-and-done rule is changed, the expected starting date will likely be several years into the future. The first year where high school players are allowed to enter the NBA directly will essentially create a double draft.

The NBA and NBPA are expected to agree on moving the age eligible for the NBA draft from 19 years old to 18 as part of its next collective bargaining agreement, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The NBA moved its age limit to 19 years old in 2005.

The reduced age limit for high school to NBA jumps would begin as early as the 2024 NBA draft.

2024 Top Recruit Naasir Cunningham To Sign With Overtime Elite

Apr 25, 2022 1:55 PM

Naasir Cunningham, who is considered the top recruit in the class of 2024, will sign with Overtime Elite. Cunningham will sign via OTE's new scholarship model, as opposed to taking a salary. This will allow Cunningham to retain his NCAA eligibility.

Cunningham played the first two seasons of his high school career at Gill St. Bernard's School in New Jersey. The West Orange, New Jersey native said that he believes joining Overtime Elite is the past path for his professional future.

"This is best place for me to develop as a player, while getting the right education to fall back on at the same time," Cunningham said. "Overtime built a relationship with my family and I, which was a big factor in trusting them with my future. I want to be the best basketball player I can, an NBA draft lottery pick and hopefully one of the best in the league. Overtime is going to put me in position to become the best player I can."

Cunningham is the highest-ranked player to sign with Overtime Elite in their two-year history. OTE is an alternative, academy-style path for players who would like to earn money, while also preparing for their professional careers in basketball.
